Fairfield Connecticut is about five miles southwest of Bridgeport on the Gold Coast of Connecticut. As of the 2000 census the town had a total population of 57,340. Fairfield is home to Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, and the headquarters of GE.
The racial makeup of the town is 95.27% white, 2.04% asian, 1.09% african american, 0.06% native american, 0.58% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 2.34% of the population are hispanic or latino.
